With this team, the booklet POLY-GAHO continued to be published regularly from then on (the members occasionally change).
Looking back at the cover, Toshima apparently thought that “minor arts for minor hearts,” printed unobtrusively beneath the title, was actually a rather nice line. Incidentally, Toshima wasn't the one who came up with it. That was Makio Hara.
Words and manga, text and illustrations, interfere with one another while jointly composing a single page. This is an illustrated publication that aims for precisely this kind of “poly,” or plurality.
A note on the title
Gaho (画報) refers to an illustrated magazine or pictorial publication. Poly means “many” or “multiple.” The title POLY-GAHO thus suggests a publication made up of multiple modes of expression. Rather than simply placing different kinds of content side by side, the publication brings words, manga, texts, and illustrations into interaction, allowing them to shape the page together.
